Summer Photo Taking Tips

By Vera Raposo “We’re having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave.” No doubt you are one of many in our nation trying to get through a long hot summer. Well, take heart! There is one activity which will not only give you pleasure, but memories to last a lifetime. It’s time to take out your new scrapbook, dust it off, and add new pages of photos to it. Use a photo tip in the next section to make sure you are capturing the best summer pictures ever. Summer yields a myriad of opportunities. Photograph your favorite flower, plant or tree. If you enjoy the beach or pool, flash the splash! Take different shots of children at play using color and/or black and white. Dare to be different! If you enjoy early morning walks, take your camera with you. Whether you walk around Central Park or simply around your own block, nature has a way of revealing the minutest detail of summer to you. Capture it! Here are some photo tips: Use a digital camera so that you can edit your photos on line. If a digital camera is not available to you, use a standard camera and have plenty of film and batteries on hand according to the camera’s specifications. Keep an account of where you took the photos so that you will be able to label them in your scrapbook. When taking pictures outdoors, stay away from direct sunlight as it will result in shadowed photos. Overcast days are ideal for picture-taking. Experiment with close-ups, i.e., zoom in - zoom out. Use light and dark to give your photos perspective. Indoor picture-taking also allows you to experiment with light and darkflash on - flash off. When traveling to any local or foreign destination include scenic photos of waterfalls, the local streets, people, rock formations, beaches, towns, historic landmarks, etc. When taking a picture of a friend or loved one in front of an historic setting, stand as far back as possible so that the entire backdrop is captured. Take a picture of a sunset. The colors derived from it can never be duplicated. Be creative! Photography is quite subjective. Only you know what appeals to you. Enjoy the experience. Now that your photos are ready for the scrapbook, begin to improvise on how you wish it to look. Use pastels or textured paper for summer photos. There are many scrapbook sites online that give you excellent ideas on how to set up, maintain, and enjoy the process. Memories last a lifetime. Ensure that your photos last as well. Remember, the world consists of objects and colors with which you can begin to compose the painting in your mind’s eye. Vera Raposo has been scrapbooking since her oldest child was 5. Natural Selection Speed Date - Hype or True Love?

By Claudia Pate Just hours after the “Natural Selection Speed Date” event was held on February 7 in New York, commentary and polls sprang up everywhere to discuss the “fairness” of an event wherein wealthy men and beautiful women need only apply. As for the men, the criteria for wealth ranged from a salary of $200,000.00 for men aged 25 and below to $500,000.00 for men aged 30 and above. A man who was not gainfully employed or did not have a salary within those limits could still qualify with invested assets of at least $1 million or a trust fund of at least $4 million. The only requirement for the women was that they had to be beautiful, based on the judgment of celebrity matchmaker Janis Spindel. To determine beauty, she required five pictures, nothing more nothing less. No additional information would even be accepted. According to a blurb on the Pocket Change website, the sponsors of the event, “Pocket Change is honoring the age old union of wealthy men and hot girls. Society has taught us to not publicly acknowledge the obvious - no longer dear friends. Women want money in a man, men want beauty in a woman - this is a factual force of nature. Women don’t ask ‘So, what does he do for a living?’ because they’re interested in his personality and guys don’t ask ‘is she hot?’ because they’re concerned with character. Guys know that money buys them the car, the house and the trophy wife. This genetic cleansing is how the wealthy stay beautiful.” Wow! What a statement about where we are as a society. While it is true that men are more visual and are thus attracted to women based first on their appearance, what happens when the woman gains weight, becomes ill, or freckles start to show where once there was just creamy, smooth skin? Is she still beautiful or will she be thrown over for a woman who has not gained weight, been stricken by a disease, and has stayed out of the sun to retain her creamy complexion? And what happens to the man if he loses his job or his investments fail? Does the woman turn her desire to the next man on her list who makes enough money to keep her in the manner in which she is accustomed? While I do agree that men are attracted by beauty and women don’t want to live paycheck to paycheck, there is much more to relationships and marriage than these two factors. In addition to beauty, which looks different to everyone, and financial provision, which varies from one household to the next, men and women want basically the same thing: to love and to be loved for who they are, not for the money they make or the size of their thighs. No one wants to wake up in the morning only to check their bank account or look in the mirror to see if they will still be married at the end of the day. This world is scary enough without throwing in the uncertainty of love based solely on such measurements. In any relationship, attraction is based on a variety of qualities. What is attractive to me isn’t the same as what’s attractive to someone else, but attraction that leads to marriage must be based on more than good looks and money to survive. It must be based on trust, mutual respect, shared interests, love that is actively working toward staying in love, a desire to grow and learn about each other as life changes, and so much more. In all honesty, if men and women want to date based solely on money and looks, that is going to happen whether there is a planned event or not. I do, however, wonder about the final statement made on the Pocket Change website, “This genetic cleansing is how the wealthy stay beautiful.” How can this be? Doesn’t it take two to make a child? Wouldn’t it logically take both a beautiful woman and a handsome man to create a beautiful child, or does money plus an ugly man plus a beautiful woman make a beautiful wealthy child? You do the math, but there seems to be a flaw in the logic behind that statement. A couple of quotes sum it up best. First, Bill Wundram, Iowa Quad Cities Times, says, “In the final analysis, love is the only reflection of man’s worth,” and Joanne Woodward, wife of actor and very rich man, Paul Newman, sums it up this way: “Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat.” In the final analysis, love isn’t just riches and it isn’t just beauty. Don’t worry about your bank account or whether one ear is lower than the other, find a man or a woman who loves you for who you are and do the same in return. There is no better substitute. High Intensity Discharge Grow Light (Generic)

By Kirk Gordon HID lamps are categorized in three groups :Mercury Vapor , Metal Halide, and Pressurized Sodium. For plant cultivation, Metal Halide (MH) or Pressurized Sodium (HPS and LPS) are the ones commonly used in grow rooms.Mercury Vapor - Mercury Vapor lamps are common, but they are not the most energy efficient for lighting plants or anything else. Mercury Vapor lamps have an average life of 24,000 hours. A black coating that deposits it’s self on the inside of the bulb decrease light output after a significant amount of use. Pressurized Sodium: High and low pressure sodium lamps (HPS and LPS) are considered the most efficient lighting option for plant’s in flowering phase. Sodium causes this type of lighting to be a yellow/orange color. A ten minute warm-up period is needed before you can turn on light after turning it off. The life of the HPS and LPS are the same as the Mercury Vapor, however, the energy requirements (wattage) is about half. HPS lamps are usually chosen for outside or warehouse applications where color is not important, and where instant lighting is not required. When Pressurized Sodium lights are used in plant applications, they are commonly used only during the plant’s flowering phase. Pressurized Sodium spectrum is more suitable for flowering plants than Metal Halide or Fluorescent lamps. Plants grown under Pressurized Sodium lamps yields larger, denser fruits and flowers. Metal Halide: Unlike Pressurized Sodium, Metal Halide lamps have instant startup and emits a white color, however, they have about half the lifetime of both Mercury Vapor and Pressurized Sodium lamps. Metal Halide have a lower wattage than Pressurized Sodium. Metal Halide are usually better for applications where color of light is important. Metal Halide can also be used as an artificial light source for growing plants indoors. Metal Halide lamps are usually used during a plant’s growth phase because its spectrum provides good growth rate and smaller compact plants. Metal Halide Lamps provide high system efficiency (up to 100 lumens/watt) compared to Mercury Vapor, fluorescent and incandescent lights. Metal Halide have a “white” color which makes a good approximation for daylight. Metal Halide lamps last for 10,000 to 15,000 hours. Metal Halide lamps have a shorter lifetime than high pressure sodium lamps. Metal Halide lamps, however, have a shorter lifetime than high pressure sodium lamps. Death Penalty: For or Against?

By Daniel Hunt Every evening when we sit back on our sofas and relax, we watch TV. In the evening action is on mostly. Daily we see how someone is murdered, but we find it exciting and watch such films with pleasure. What could the consequences be if some of these episodes could be taken into the real life? A verdict can be very strict, the most cruel verdict at all. Murderers are charged death penalty. But nowadays we have a conflict on this basis. Should one be condemned to death or just get a life sentence and thats it? Those who stand for death penalty always use the famous Bible quotation An eye for an eye. They also refer to the Bible when they say that someone breaks one of the Ten Commitments which is Dont kill, and the punishment is death. Revenge is a powerful motivator to take actions. Those whose relative was killed want the criminal to suffer as much as their beloved has suffered. Death penalty was widely used in the past and for different purposes. For example your head could be cut of for stealing the cattle in Frankish Empire, you could be tortured and killed for betrayal in Old England, and you could be fed to the dogs for killing a lord in Old Germany and so on. The examples can be numerous. But the question is: do we possess the authority of God to take somebodys life even if he/she took somebody elses? Are we to judge other people? This can be a good topic for a custom term paper if to go deeper into the problem. God tells to forgive, this is also one of the Ten Commandments and we are not to break it. Nowadays a saying An eye for an eye is a bit old-fashioned. You will not kill a cat because he accidentally scratched you. We live in a democratic, free state where everybody is equal before the law and have to behave as such. In Europe there is no country left where death penalty still exists. It is rather hard to believe, for Europe was eager to execute everybody who went against the law. The ways to punish became milder, easier, and faster. Then, step by step, death penalty was canceled because of victory of humanism over revenge. What is worse: death penalty or life sentence? A lot of students perform a term paper order on this topic. This idea can bring a good grade to the owner if closely researched. Of course life is the main value and there is nothing more valuable, but what is life, spent in for walls with those who were originated in the gutter of society, thinking about what a fool you were to do such a fatal mistake. But people who deserve to die have to be kept in very severe conditions. Unfortunately, our society can create real monsters that will not consider killing somebody an awful sin and crime. But no matter how guilty a person is, humans have no right to kill others to revenge; we have no right to do so. We are not to judge, this is Gods authority to decide. And who knows, maybe killers are suffering more when they are locked in four walls than when they peacefully pass away to the other world. Daniel Hunt has been working as a leading editor at SuperiorPapers.com - Custom Research Paper writing service for more than two years. You can order term paper and see for yourself. His research in Linguistics makes a great contribution to the science. You can see his advice on how to write a proper custom term paper in various guides on how to write. Legal Terms - A Quick Guide

By Richard Chapo Legal issues and problems are stressful, complex and inevitable. If you get wrapped up in legal issues, it sometimes helps to understand the lingo being bandied about. Legal Terms Contract: An agreement between two or more parties in which each party agrees to provide something in exchange for the other party doing the same. Typically, one party provides money while the other provides a service or product. Contracts can be oral or written, but oral contracts are difficult to enforce. Copyright: The legal right attached to literary, musical, dramatic or artistic works. Copyright automatically attaches to the piece in favor of the creator of it. To sue for copyright infringement, the creator must file for an official copyright from the Library of Congress. Intellectual Property: A product or idea that has tangible commercial value. Examples of intellectual property include copyrighted works such as books, patented items such as a product design and a trademarked item for a brand. The word Amazon is not considered intellectual property. When applied to the Internet, however, the word is intellectual property as it refers to a brand for an online bookstore. Non-Compete Agreement: An agreement whereby one party, typically an employee, agrees not to use information learned during employment in subsequent business efforts for a set period of time. In some states, non-compete agreements are extremely difficult to enforce. An example of a non-compete agreement dispute is the current litigation between Microsoft and Google over Kai-Fu Lee. Non-Disclosure Agreement: A contract binding one party to a duty of confidentiality in regard to certain information provided by another. An NDA typically is executed where one party wished to discuss a business venture with another and the discussion necessarily requires the disclosure of sensitive information. Trademark: A name, label or symbol identifying a product or web site. Trademarks are filed with the Patent and Trademark Office and restricted to a class of products or services. Amazon is a trademarked term for Internet services, but not for general references such as ecological discussions. Obviously, this is a relatively short list of legal terms. If your issue is not mentioned, you can search on the net to find an answer. Richard A. Private Practice Marketing: How to Remove Obstacles to Your Success in Private Practice Marketing

By Jeff Herring Private practice marketing is enough of a challenge without all the obstacles we put in our own way. Here is an example of how I got in my own way and the reframe I used to remove the obstacle. It was fall of ‘04 and I was getting ready to expand in some way, looking for other things to do and I was looking for ways to build my practice, even though I had a great one at the time. But as those things began to grow, one of the things noticed was I was really kind of holding myself back. And I thought what in the world is this about? So there I was at, what was that then, 46‑47, having experienced more success than I’d ever thought I would in my whole career. I mean, I had a full private practice, straight pay, no insurance, no managed care, I was a professional speaker, I’d been a syndicated relationship columnist for several years, more things than I knew what to do with, and more business than I could handle. So as I kind of dug deeper into what was holding me back, I had this notion. And I’m not sure where it came from, still it doesn’t matter, I had this notion that somehow I had peaked, OK? And this was as good as it was going to get. OK, I’d gotten lucky, I’d gotten successful early, and I had peaked. And at best I could hang on and maintain the way things were, and at worst it was all downhill from here, sort of the downslide into retirement. Now, do you think that would get in my way a little bit? Heck, yeah! So I started playing with a reframe. How else can I look at this, how can I argue with this obstacle? And being a child of ’70s music, I mean, give me any song and I’ll tell you who did it, what year, probably what cut it was on the album or 8‑track, that’s dating myself. What began to play in my head was an old Bachman‑Turner Overdrive song with the chorus “You aint seen nothing yet,” OK? And so that kind of became my theme song for a while, “You aint seen nothing yet.” And it got me past that obstacle, and I’ve expanded a little bit in the last few years. So whatever it is for you it may be silly sounding like mine is, and even the reframe or the solution strategy might be silly, but it works. It was there, it was in my way, and that song works. GSM Cellular Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Saurya_Ghosal]Saurya Ghosal A GSM cellular phone is a type of cellular phone that uses the (G)lobal (S)ystem for (M)obile Communications to send and receive phone calls. GSM is a digital standard; first offered commercially in 1991 and is currently the most popular mobile phone transmission technology in the world. The GSM standard uses TDMA digital technology, which allows for three different voice calls to be placed in the same time slot, rather than one call using the old analog cellular phones. This is possible through digital compression, which GSM then builds upon with the addition of encryption. A GSM cellular phone takes up the same amount of transmission space as the old technology, but has the additional benefit of added security. One of the great benefits of a GSM cellular phone is the addition of a SIM card, or “Subscriber Identification Module.” This little chip slips into the back of a GSM cellular phone and provides all of the users personal information. This includes contacts and calendar information in most cases, and more importantly the subscribers personal identification information. Having this information on a removable chip enables a GSM cellular phone user to move a SIM card between cellular phones and still receive voice calls to the same number. It also prevents user from having to re-input personal information each time a new phone is purchased. GSM Cellular Phone Advantages A GSM cellular phone offers superior sound quality. Background sounds, disturbances, and static sounds are vastly reduced; and crossed-line conversations are also almost eliminated in a GSM cellular phone. GSM cellular phone sound quality is more like that of a fixed telephone. The main advantages of a GSM cellular phone are International Roaming ability, good sound quality, small affordable handsets and ability to handle a high volume of users. Unlike analog phones, your conversation using a GSM cellular phone within the digital network is safe and secure. With superior battery life & digital technology of a GSM cellular phone, you get twice as much talk time from each battery charge, compared with analog phones. In addition, the digital service offered by the GSM cellular phone network, allows more calls to be handled at any one time, therefore reducing congestion in areas of dense population and high usage. A GSM cellular phone offers roaming facility, which means, you can use your GSM cellular phone, with the same phone number in other countries around the world that operate through the GSM cellular phone network or you can just move your SIM card to another GSM cellular phone. In Europe and most of Asia, GSM is the standard used by everyone. Having one technology is great, because users can simply move their chips to a different GSM cellular phone if they travel to different countries or in most cases use the same phone. This is in contrast to the US, with so many competing standards and difficulty transferring between carriers. The adoption of GSM technology and GSM cellular phones as a standard also paved the way for the rise of text messaging in many countries. While text messaging is starting to become popular in North America, it is nowhere near as popular as it is in Europe and Asia. Carriers in the US in particular use various technologies in addition to GSM and must then route text messages through third party gateways. This is how a Sprint user can send a text message to a Verizon customer. Until a few years ago this wasn’t possible and served to prevent text messaging from truly catching on. GSM and GSM cellular phones have found a significant boost due to Cingular Wireless becoming America’s largest mobile provider. They have adopted GSM technology and promote the GSM cellular phone’s ease of use due to a swappable SIM card. Though the US still has many competing technologies, a GSM cellular phone is the international choice. If you plan to travel frequently overseas, a GSM cellular phone might be a wise decision. The GSM standard has been around for a relatively long time. Its popularity continues to grow because of the addition of GPRS and integration of cameras, MP3 players and other gadgets into a GSM cellular phone. Modern GSM cellular phones support the creation of text and picture messages. Because of these additions, this relatively old standard is actually being phased in within the US. Will Her Beautiful, Sexy, and Feminine Self Attract Men?

By Py Kim-Conant How important beauty and sexy femininity are to single women as they seek to find the right man to marry? Probably most of single women would like to be more beautiful or at least somewhat beautiful. But how many of them are making their beauty one of their highest priorities? It may be politically incorrect to say, I have as a high priority to make myself more beautiful, sexy, and feminine every day. The P.C. police and some feminists might see such a goal as self-absorbed, shallow, and selfish, or, again, as too submissive or surrendering to what a man likes to see in a woman. It may be politically incorrect to say that a woman should develop these qualities in herself. However, know that a nice, sweet, but unbeautiful, unsexy, and unfeminine woman may spend many lonely, unhappy years being politically correct and unnoticed by most men. I dont want any woman to go unnoticed as a woman, as I did for so long. It hurts too much and too deeply. I know this is true. I experienced it. It hurts me even now as I remember it so many years later. In the context of finding the right man for a woman to marry and finding him in as short a time as possible, she must be realistic. The reality is that men are attracted to a beautiful or pretty woman more than they are attracted to a plain woman. Look around you every day at all the other women you see. Then ask yourself, Do many of these women seem to be making it a priority to be beautiful, sexy, and feminine as they live their day-to-day lives? It seems obvious to me that many do not. Despite the fact that most men require beauty and a sexy femininity from a woman in order to be attracted to her in the first place, few women try hard enough. Your Best Man Speech Starts with the Plan

By Gary Stevens The order and content of the wedding speeches do not have to follow such a rigid structure as, perhaps, they once did. It is critical that you discuss the format of the speeches well in advance so that you can properly prepare. With that caveat I have prepared a general plan that you can follow for your best man speech. This will give you a good insight into what is expected of you and will allow you to focus your preparation and research. The introduction Introduce yourself and thank the groom for the opportunity of being the best man. If you are replying on behalf of the bridesmaids then thank the groom for his words. Comment on the wedding This can be a general observation, prepared in advance, such as a comment on the groom wearing a suit or an observation from the actual ceremony. Your relationship to the groom Explain in more detail who you are and your relationship to the groom. You could say how you first met and how you feel about being asked to be the best man. If you are giving a funny speech then keep the first part sincere and gently ease into the humor. Tell some (humorous) anecdotes During researching your best man speech you should have plenty of anecdotes to talk about. Do not necessarily restrict this to only the groom. You could talk about how the bride and groom’s parent met, if there is a connection or co-incidence. Be careful not to be offensive - even if not intentional. Be nice to the groom If you have just given a character assassination of the groom it is even more important that you re-introduce sincerity, prior to the toast - so find at least one thing nice to say about him! Pay a sincere tribute to the bride and broom Give your personal thoughts and wishes for the bride and groom’s happiness and future. Give the toast Generally there will be one toast, to the bride and groom. If you are expected to give more than one then do not leave them all to the end of your speech. Haven’t got a lot to say? Do not worry! You can fill out your speech with more general observations (comment on your role as the best man, offer some thoughts on marriage), provide a date hook (a memorable historic event that took place on the same day) or read some cards from guests that were unable to attend. Garry Stevens is an authority on public speaking and has created a specialized package especially for giving a best man speech. Are You Starving to Lose Weight?

By Daisy Bone Its never too late to rethink on your diet plan and make fresh and realistic health resolutions. It is the right time to take stock of the situation. Ask yourself: Are we being fair to ourselves when we make these strict guidelines of diet and exercise? Most people recoil at the thought of dieting and exercising, especially on a cold winter morning. And for all those people who are fed up of diet dictums, the good news is that the best way to lose weight is not to diet or deprive yourself of all the good things in life. If this sounds too good to be true, wait till you try this: Wellness - the latest buzzword to hit the health industry - is actually the best way forward. Most people who plan strict diets do it in the hope that after losing the extra kilos, they will look ravishing. But the truth is that lusterless sagging skin or loose abdominal muscles are not the result that people want. What we want is a happy, healthy, svelte figure munching an apple. But alas, that is not what we end up with very often. Therefore, after trying to lose weight for the nth time, it is now time to stop dieting forever and yet look slim. Wellness is not only about losing weight, it is also about a positive mindset and transforming oneself into a holistically healthy person. This kind of a change in focus will not only result in weight loss but also give you great skin, good hair, a glowing persona and best of all, freedom from diets. Here is what the wellness and diet schedule entails: o Understanding your food weaknesses and indulging in them two times a week. o Maintaining a diet log book. o Pick up a routine that you enjoy which is like an exercise: dancing, or walking the pet, floor exercises with music etc. o Never deprive yourself. Always add new healthy habits to the current schedule, like having a yummy soup in the evening instead of tea and a scrumptious salad during lunch with olives, balsamic dressing and some greens and cheese cubes. o Enjoy your meal. Many people who eat hurriedly always miss out on the flavors, do not feel satiated and end up compensating by overeating. o And if all this does not convince you, count the number of times you have struggled through a diet program only to regain the weight with a few extra kilos. o Looking at unhealthy habits and finding alternatives. For example, if you are prone to drinking too much of tea/coffee, substitute some for herbal teas which smell and taste good. If you eat too much of fried food, learn to make toasted snacks or baked snacks, and experiment with new roasted snacks. o Do not starve or eat less. When we cut down on quantities, our emotional system retaliates, so the best option is to add healthy foods to the diet before cutting out on food suddenly.
