Marketing The Hook

By Bruce Towers The hook is the first thing you say about your company. Its the first thing you put on your marketing message. The best hook is a company name that, sorry, HOOKS people. A hard-c sound carrot, cucumber is not bad advice. Zeer-ROCKS. Klee-NECKS. These hard-c sounds affect us. Its been tested. They are remembered. When your hook is sharp and specific, theres nothing left for your audience to do but take the action you offer. One hook. One action. Thats the best a marketing message can cause. Marketing messages are not advertisements. Advertisements can explain and persuade. They often make the sale. Marketing messages, on the other hand, dont make the sale. They dont close the deal. They inspire one action. They fit on billboards or the sides of a bus. They have one headline. It is visceral and compelling. Death of a Salesman opened in the 1940s. Many people warned Arthur Miller, the playwright, that death would not sell in a title. But it did not keep people away. The power of the product did the work, obviously, compelling people to recommend the play to their friends, but the title now seems powerful and profound. In our hyper-hype culture, bottom line hooks are startling and refreshing. We trust candor. It can seem so rare. Say it like it is. Then tell them what to do. Knee-JERK. (Theres that hard-c again.) That would be quite an effective marketing event. You knee. They jerk. The best hook is someones name. Youre trying to hook some particular person, arent you? Or category of people. A specific word, idea, or question makes a great hook. Wheres the beef? Remember that cranky old grandma? The 80s werent that long ago. But we are more spread out now. We all dont watch the same channels or networks. Companies used to be able to reach their markets. Now our markets search for us. Which is why the best hook is a keyword that people are searching on the internet. The traffic is out there. We must not only stand in it. We must hold up a sign that theyre looking for. Just do it. You know the company. One simple phrase and, perhaps, some athlete doing something doing one specific thing. If a picture is worth a thousand words, why not one picture with the fewest words possible? Brevity is the soul of wit. In the loud avalanche of marketing messages, your specific and almost silent message is perhaps best heard. Think strategic. (Another hard-c.) What grabs your attention? On stage it is said Less is more. Less from you gives room for more from them, your audience. More thought. More feeling. More response. More action. And that, I assume, is what you want to cause with your marketing. So be clear and concise. Sharpen your hook and offer them only one action. Test and measure and improve. Adapt. Soon youll have a relationship with your customers. Remember to always hook them with every message. Good communication is a skill you can practice. You dont have communication until you get a response. Save Time with a Garage Door Opener

By Arturo Ronzon If your garage door does not already have an automatic opener, and you are forced to get out of the car to open your garage manually before going in, you may want to pay attention to the information in this article. Automatic garage door openers make it easier than ever to open your garage door, and it can be done from inside your car, the garage, or even inside the home. There are only a few factors that must be considered when choosing the right garage door opener to purchase. Drive System: There are three different drive systems; screw-drive, chain-drive and computer-controlled drive. The screw-drive system uses a lifting mechanism which moves along a steel rod that is threaded. These units require the least amount of maintenance because of the small amount of moving parts, and they are very powerful devices. Generally the openers body is in the center of the garages ceiling. The chain-drive system operates using a metal chain which lifts the door up and down along a track. These systems are the most common, and typically are also the least expensive to purchase. The downside to these units is that they are generally louder than screw-drive units. Finally, the computer-controlled drive is the newest on the market, and uses no chains or screws. The units body sits directly above the garage door, and works well for garages with limited headroom because there is more open garage ceiling space. Power: When choosing a garage door opener, look for one that has the necessary power in order to adequately lift your own garage door. You should be looking for at least a half horsepower with a double door. Even with a single door, a more powerful motor is always preferable. Speed: Openers on the higher end of the market tend to operate a little more quickly than the others, which will reduce waiting time in the driveway. Models which open quickly still close slowly for the sake of safety. Safety: There are features in all garage door openers that are meant to keep doors from crushing an object in their paths. If the doors strike something, they will reverse immediately. This tends to be controlled by electronic beams, which trigger the safety mechanism when penetrated by an object or a person. The Lost Church

By Anthony Smith The Lost Church. In the Times of the End. In todays world we see many, Members, Clergy and Ministers, who have lost their first love and have gone after strange spirits. Many have lied, manipulated and deceived their congregations and each other. Saying that righteousness is within the individual. We see this change has come upon many that say they are Christs but denigh the very Father that Sent Him. De-nighing the Son is De-nighing the Father. Rev 3:15-17; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: These are those that are lost within themselves, believing that they are righteous and just, but cannot justify themselves before God. The Blind leading the Blind. When you go within a Church, you must question the doctrine that is being taught, if they say its all right and not to worry, Leave and seek out another. We must be vigilant to the doctrine that is being taught so that we are not out of the will and laws of God. Jesus stated of man made doctrine; Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. From Smiths Dictionary we see a few definitions that I wish to expound upon. Another quality in leaven is noticed in the Bible, namely, its secretly penetrating and diffusive power. In this respect it was emblematic of moral influence generally, whether good or bad; and hence our Saviour adopts it as illustrating the growth of the kingdom of heaven in the individual heart and in the world at large: because (1) its source is from without; (2) it is secret in its operation; (3) it spreads by contact of particle with particle; On the Hypocritical Side we see; (1) its source is from without; This is man made doctrine. A doctrine is a rule of conduct among Church Believers not necessarily Church members, and yes there is a difference. What is man made doctrine? A doctrine may be true or false; it may be a mere tenet or opinion.(Webster.) I’m going to use the definition, Opinion. When a man of God starts using his own opinion on the validity of any scripture in the Bible, he has erred from the faith. For example, Calling any earthly man, Father., Ordaining a woman to any position that usurps authority over a man, I.E. Priest, Deacons, Pastors, etc. Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Any source used, by any minister of the Gospel, that is contrary to sound doctrine must be removed from the Church and never taught. Just because a man says that He believes in Jesus doesn’t necessarily mean that that person is saved. Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (2) it is secret in its operation; Simulation; a feigning to be what one is not; or dissimulation, a concealment of one’s real character or motives. More generally, hypocrisy is simulation, or the assuming of a false appearance of virtue or religion; a deceitful show of a good character, in morals or religion; a counterfeiting of religion. To be able to deceive many have used words to attack what we know is to be the truth. Many will use the word; Phraseology, to hide their lack of wisdom and knowledge. Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. There is a concealment of their true motives. Their good character may hide deep dark secrets, as we have seen over the years, Jim Jones, David Koresh, The Bakers, and lately Hager. Websters speaks of motives as; That which incites to action; that which determines the choice, or moves the will. Thus we speak of good motives, and bad motives; strong and weak motives. The motive to continue at rest is ease or satisfaction; the motive to change is uneasiness, or the prospect of good. We must questions many of the motives that are being introduced upon the Church. Many of these motives are easy to see but many more are being hid in the use of the Gospel. Examples of this are in many televangelist broad casts. When anyone preaches Hell Fire and Brimstone, stating the world will end soon, then ask you for your money to build their own glory upon this earth, there is something wrong. The slight of hand and the slight of a word here and there, is a red flag that all should recognize. (3) it spreads by contact of particle with particle; The strong and the week, the wise and the unwise. Many eating from the alter of the burnt sacrifice and those that don’t. I shall eat no meat if it offends my brother, the weak. 1Co 8:10 -13; For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. In 1Co 8:10 -13, we see another example of the Blind leading the Blind, we also see a warning. The lost Church, in these end days, according to Christ and Prophecy will and is, turning their back on sound doctrine and turning toward the sinful elements of society, as to not offend nor cause an uproar among the people. Many Churches have become afraid of the elements of Satan that try to infiltrate the body of the Church. The best example of this today is equal rights for homosexuals. What a man does outside the Church is one thing but to say that their lifestyle has a right to be recognized as righteous within the Church is another. Sinners and the lost are welcome within the Church, but their membership in the Church, their Salvation and calling, must be based on the Laws of God and not the opinion of the A.C.L.U. Nor the laws of man. We will all give account of our actions. The Bible tells us in Phi 4:6, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God., we are to be bold and steadfast in our profession of faith. Eph 4:13-14; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Rev 3:9-10; Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. The Church’s that are upon the rock, must start coming together as one, no more fighting after man made doctrine, no more being afraid of prophecy, no more being afraid of laws and lawyers, that have not the truth in them, no more being afraid of world opinion, no more being afraid of Satan. We must all stand together, Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and all the rest. The lost Church isn’t truly lost just confused. The Lost Church must remove their self interest and seek out the will of God concerning the Church. The rich Churches must help the poor, those with knowledge must share that knowledge, without seeking payment, and those that build grand temples must go back to the time of innocence. For every thing we see is temporal and not eternal, it will all burn and decay. Ars. Temple of Spirit & Truth Ministries A. R. Bananas: The Best Fruit Ever

By Michael Russell Bananas, arguably the most distinctive of all fruit because instead of coming from a tree like other fruits, it comes from large plants that are of relation to the orchid and lily family. Bananas are a perfect part of anyone’s diet, since to maintain a healthy lifestyle, one should meet one’s daily requirement of five fruits and vegetables. It’s no wonder bananas are one of the most popular fruits in all of America. They provide a source of energy and they are available year round. Similar to other fruits and vegetables, bananas do not contain any sodium, fat, or cholesterol. With bananas being a part of a healthy balanced diet, one may reduce the risk of certain types of cancer as well as heart disease. Bananas are also a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin C, fiber and are rich in vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 is important because a lack of it can cause insomnia, weakness and irritability. Potassium is important for helping muscles flex and bend properly during active work and it also reduces the chance of cramping up. Potassium may also help in reducing the chance of high blood pressure and stroke. It regulates blood pressure. An average-sized banana obtains about 400 mg of potassium and contains 110 calories with 4 grams of fiber. On top of being easy to digest, they also contain many carbohydrates, one of our main sources of energy. Even those who get sugar cravings can be satisfied with a banana as its great taste can be a substitute for unhealthy sweets such as candy bars and gum. The banana even provides it’s own wrapper with its peel, just like any other kind of tasty sweet. However, the difference is that it is healthy. Bananas may also naturally help people overcome depression, as research shows that serotonin and norephinephrine exist in bananas. Bananas also are great for babies. There’s a reason why bananas are often the first food that’s solid given to babies. They are easy to digest because they don’t have fat and not many babies are allergic to them. The taste is also great and the amount of energy provided is great for kids that are growing up. Yellow bananas are selected for eating and green ones should be used for ripening or cooking. Ones with brown specks should be used for baking cookies, bread and muffins. As they ripen, the starch in bananas turns into sugar, which makes them taste sweeter and sweeter. They’re also great as a side dish for foods like cereal, salads, smoothies, shakes and yogurt. Bananas should be stored at room temperature until they reach the ripeness that you prefer. Once that happens, you can put them in your fridge for storage. The banana peel will get darker in the fridge but the banana itself will still stay perfectly fine and tasty. One way to ripen bananas faster is to put them in a brown paper bag overnight. It works well with other kinds of fruit too. How To Make Your Own Envelopes

By Craig Dawber Making your own envelopes can be fun and is very simple. With a few supplies and a few minutes you can have all the envelopes you would ever need. All you need to do is find out what supplies you need and how to make them. People make their own envelopes for various reasons. Some do it as a form of recycling or to save money. Others do it out of necessity - if they are in need of an envelope but do not have one. Making your own envelopes also is a way to make unique gifts or unique sizes for those odd packages you need to send. Imagine not having to run out to find a gift or that special size envelope ever again. Once you learn how to make envelopes you may never buy another again. The supplies used in making your own envelopes are simple and easy to find. You need some paper product to use as the actual envelope base. For thicker envelopes you can use old calendar pages or magazine covers. For a quick envelope you can use notebook paper or even a paper bag. For something more creative you can iron a piece of tissue paper to a piece of wax paper and use that. Other supplies you will need are scissors, glue and a pattern. Now that you have gathered your supplies you can make your envelope. The first step in making your envelope is to establish a pattern. The easiest pattern is to use an old envelope that you open up. Trace around it on your chosen paper. Then cut out the pattern and fold it into shape. You can then glue the envelope closed. You have quickly made your own envelope. Making your own envelope may come out of need or just fun. It is really simple to do and costs pennies. When you need an envelope just consider making your own. Party Games - Traditional and Still the Best

By Keith Sinclair Firstly, party games should be easy to understand; no-one wants to spend ages trying work out how to play the game and this is probably the reason that the traditional party games are still enjoyed by all ages today. Equally important is that party games should be FUN and should involve and entertain the maximum number of people for the maximum amount of time. As a final consideration when choosing the games to play at your party, they should match the personality of both the ‘Party Guest of Honor’ if there is one, and the guests that have been invited. Remember the games should be fun and full of humor to play but equally they should be enjoyable to watch. There are a couple of words on safety and caution: If you are holding a costume party, pick party games that are playable when some of your guests may have slightly restricted vision from wearing masks or restricted movement from wearing bulky or tight costumes. Here are some classic Birthday Party games; you can dress them up by renaming them in keeping with favourite characters from films or cartoons this can add to the enjoyment and works especially well when this also ties with the overall theme of the party and is continued through to the prizes given to the winners of the games. Pass the Parcel: Great party game but requires a good degree of preparation time. Bonus is that the time taken to play the game can be determined beforehand and the game can be speeded up or slowed down as required. A small gift item is wrapped in several layers of paper is passed from one guest to another whilst the music plays. When the music stops, a layer of paper is removed by the person who was holding it when the music stopped. The game finishes when the gift item is finally unwrapped. This is normally kept by that person. Recent variation is to include a small gift/wrapped sweet in every layer. Wrap the Mummy: Great party game for slightly older kids that’s up to 90 then.and themes well with Egyptian parties or Halloween. Setting up time is minimal and can be used as a great last minute game. Two or more teams, each given toilet roll. Each team nominates a ‘Mummy’ and winners are the team that wraps the Mummy fully in the quickest time. Pin the Tail on the Donkey: Another classic. Either, you can buy a kit which includes a large picture of a donkey and several self-adhesive numbered tails or you can be traditional and have lots of pin holes in your walls and smaller guests. Whichever way you go you can expect a real riot of laughter. Recently this has been updated to Stick the Nose on the Clown, frankly sounds equally as cruel.. Musical Chairs: Needs one chair less than the number of players so you may need to break the party into two groups to manage this better. Music plays and party goers walk round the chairs, music stops they all try to sit down, one per chair. If you have your maths right, one will be eliminated. Continue to one chair and finally you have your winner. Hot potato: is a version of musical chairs for people who either don’t have chairs or don’t have sufficient space to play it fully. Here the guest sit in a circle and a potato is handed quickly from guest to guest. One person is nominated to shout ‘Hot Potato’ whenever they feel like it and the person holding the potato at that time leaves the game. Works best when the ’shouter’ cannot see who is holding the potato otherwise a degree of cheating may take place! These are just some examples; party games should be lively, fun and amusing. Select the right games for your guests and the memory of the games will last longer than any prize or present. Article submitted by: KV Sinclair. Raising Turkeys

By Peter Emerson The turkey is a large bird, native to North America. It is distinguished by its white plumage and a bare wattled neck and head. The name turkey was first applied to the guinea fowl that was thought to have originated in Turkey. However, the American turkey is a quite different species from the guinea fowl, though the name remained. In fact, the wild turkey was a staple food in the North American diet. It was known as a peru in the 18th century. Some common breeds of turkey are: Narragansett, Bronze, White Holland, and Bourbon Red. There are three stages in Raising Turkeys: the breeder farm, the hatchery and the turkey farm. The breeder farm is the place where the hen lays the eggs. These eggs are collected and sent to the hatchery. In the hatchery, the eggs are kept in special incubators after cleaning. These incubators provide the right temperature and humidity levels for allowing the eggs to hatch. Generally, turkey eggs take 28 days to hatch. The baby turkeys, also known as poults, are kept in the hatchery until they are moved to the turkey farms. In the turkey farms, the hen turkeys and the tom turkeys are reared separately. The poults should be fed properly and watched carefully, at least until they shed their down feathers and get the outer feathers. For this, they are put in climate-controlled barns that have soft flooring covered with straw or wood chips. They are fed on a soft powdered mixture of soybean, corn and wheat. Other nutrients like barley, milk powder, meat meal, lime stone, salt, vitamin premix, methionine, lysine and insoluble grit can also be added. Adequate water should also be provided. Today, many advances have been made in the genetics of turkeys. This has helped to increase the size of the bird with lesser feed and in lesser time. The white broad-breasted turkey has been the most common commercially raised turkey breed, since the 1960s. There are also different strains of the white broad-breasted turkey that are reared in different parts of North America. Turkeys are bred specially to have more meat in the breast and thighs. White feathered turkeys are generally preferred, since they do not leave any ugly pigment spots when plucked. Turkeys take around 4-5 months to grow to full size. Birds less than 8 months of age are known as young turkeys. The hen turkeys take 16 weeks to mature completely, and average around 8 to 16 lbs in weight. The tom turkey takes around 19 weeks and weighs anywhere between 16 and 24 lbs. Larger tom turkeys may weigh up to 40 lbs. These take a few more weeks to mature. A breeder tom turkey can generate up to 1,500 poults in a hens six-month laying cycle. Turkeys are given a balanced diet comprising mainly of soybean and corn. This is also supplemented with minerals and vitamins. A 30-pound tom turkey (male) needs around 84 lbs of feed on an average. The cost of the feed is generally 2/3 of the total cost. Use of growth hormones for Raising Turkeys is banned. Sometimes, antibiotics are also given to turkeys to prevent diseases and to increase feed efficiency. The quantity of antibiotics to be given and the withdrawal period are determined by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service). The turkeys health is inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or other state systems, and it may also be graded for quality. Turkeys that have been on antibiotics are not allowed to be processed for sometime until the residue of the medicine has cleared from the body. Turkey farms are generally comfortable, providing shelter from harsh weather, predators, and disease. Turkey provides detailed information about turkey, turkey hunting, turkey recipes, deep fried turkey and more. Turkey is the sister site of 1200 Calorie Diabetic Diets. 7 Small Business Marketing Tips

By Barry J Byers Small businesses do not often have large budgets. Thanks to the Internet, small business marketing can be a huge success, even without big dollars behind it. Small business marketing can benefit from new trends in general marketing. These trends point to methods that are inexpensive, innovative, and online. One of the key online options for small business marketing is search engines. The cost of submitting your Web site to a search engine is minor, but there are some considerations to be made: 1. Your site must be optimized with keyword phrases. Search engine optimization is achieved by including keyword phrases that apply to your company. These phrases must be present enough times to draw the attention of the search engines to your site. 2. Since most small businesses focus on their local market, you should aim your advertising efforts at your local audience. Users have recently begun pushing for better local search capabilities and most search engine companies are responding. Statistics have shown that 74% of Internet users perform local searches. Your keywords should reflect your locale and you should look into local search engines and directories, like your local Yellow Pages, Google Local, Citysearch and others. If you are a local merchant and your intention is to sell products on the web, one of many tactics is to build your online ads around local content to increase your click through rate. 3. Speaking of local searches, newspaper Web sites have become the top portal in their local areas, especially among the coveted 18-34 demographic. Traditional newspaper advertising is generally beyond most small business marketing budgets, but the online versions offer more affordable ads on the back pages those that are not visited as often but are rich in content. 4. Another exciting small business marketing method is the weblog, or blog. A blog offers your business a good way to have an inexpensive, two-way conversation with your customers. Write a blog for your Web site to give your customers and prospects an additional reason to visit your site. 5. Podcasts are among the newest small business marketing techniques. A podcast is a multimedia file (think radio broadcast) distributed by paid or unpaid subscription over the Internet. Podcasts offer you a direct way to tell your prospects how your product or service can benefit them. 6. Many small businesses can use online seminars or demos, also known as webinars, to demonstrate and promote their latest products. Online demos are an ideal tool for small business marketing because they are relatively easy to produce and allow you to reach a wide audience without ever leaving the office. 7. A strong online presence is a critical component of any small business marketing campaign. Why? Because the Internet offers advertising options that are relatively inexpensive. Because 87% of consumers research purchases online before they buy. Because 63% research online and then visit a bricks and mortar store to complete a purchase. And because demographic trends show that the most desired customers are most accessible through online means. IGFA History

By Steven Vonbrandt Before 1939 there was no universal code of sporting ethics to guide ocean anglers in their pursuits. Some rules pertaining to sporting conduct were in effect at certain well-established fishing clubs but they varied according to the dictates of each club. The idea of a worldwide association of marine anglers had been brewing for some time in England, Australia, and the United States, and the first steps in this direction were taken in the late 1930s by members of the British Tunny Club who hoped to establish headquarters in England to formulate rules for ethical engling. The threat of war, however, interrupted their plans. At that same time, Michael Lerner was organizing a fishing expedition to the waters of Australia and New Zealand in conjunction with the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He heard of the British Tunny Clubs plans, and when he arrived in Australia he looked up one of the countrys finest anglers, Clive Firth, to discuss the idea with him. Firth was well aware of the angling feats of Californians, Floridians, Long Islanders and others. He felt that England and her colonies would accept American judgement as sporting and impartial, and that Americans should be the ones to devise and administer these ethical angling rules. Dr. William King Gregory, head of the Departments of Ichthyology and Comparative Anatomy at the American Museum of Natural History, also was a member of the Australia-New Zealand expedition. He was particularly enthusiastic about the idea of a worldwide sport fishing association headquartered in the United States, and immediately suggested that it might be possible to affiliate such an organization with the Museum. His interest in such an association and the information it could provide to scientists was the beginning of IGFAs lasting connection with scientists and scientific institutions. When the members of the Australia-New Zealand expedition returned to the U. S., letters were written to outstanding anglers, fishing clubs, and tackle manufacturers soliciting their opinions regarding the formation of an international association of marine angling clubs. The response was highly favorable and on June 7, 1939, the International Game Fish Association was formally launched in a meeting held at the American Museum of Natural History. Present were William King Gregory (who became the first president of the association), Michael Lerner, angler/writer Van Campen Heilner, and Francesca LaMonte, Associate Curator of Fishes for the Museum and science leader of several of the Lerner expeditions. Another immediate task was to notify scientific institutions and fishing clubs throughout the world about IGFA, its activities and intentions. By January 1940, only a few months after that first meeting, there were two associated scientific institutions, 10 member clubs, and 12 overseas representatives. By 1948, the numbers had grown to 10 scientific institutions, 80 member clubs, and IGFA representatives in 41 areas of the world. Clive Firth of Australia was elected IGFAs first overseas representative, and others were chosen in Nigeria, New Zealand, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Chile, Costa Rica, the Canal Zone, Cuba, Hawaii, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Among the first associated clubs were the Catalina Tuna Club, Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club, Cape Breton Big Game Anglers Association, Long Island Tuna Club, Atlantic City Tuna Club, Freeport Tuna Club, and Beach Haven Tuna Club. As news of the IGFA spread, other noted sportsmen and scientists were drawn to its administration. Among the early officers were Ernest Hemingway, Philip Wylie, B. David Crowninshield, and Charles M. Breder, Jr., who served as Chairman of the Committee on Scientific Activities. Michael Lerner financed the operations of the International Game Fish Association from its inception, and when Dr. Gregory retired from the Museum staff in 1944, Lerner took over responsibility for the IGFA presidency as well. Since then, William K. Carpenter, Elwood K. Harry, Michael Leech, and Rob Kramer have served as IGFA presidents. The physical location of IGFA headquarters changed as well through the last six decades: in the late 1950s IGFA moved from New York to Florida, first to Miami, then in 1967 to Fort Lauderdale, in 1992 to Pompano Beach, and in 1999 to the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum in Dania Beach. However, two of the most significant events affecting the association since 1939 occurred in the 1970s. Early in that decade E. K. Harry, then IGFA vice president, proposed opening the organization to individual membership to insure its continued funding, unify international anglers, and inform a much larger audience of the problems threatening fishery resources. Then, in 1978, Field & Stream magazine officially turned over its record-keeping responsibilities to IGFA. Thus the membership-driven organization that IGFA is today, responsible for all saltwater and freshwater world records and for spreading awareness of fishery and conservation issues to fishermen around the world, was formed.
